Valamar Group: Paving the Way for Sustainable Tourism with Innovative Waste Management
Since its establishment in 2000, Valamar group has grown to become a leading hospitality provider across Croatia and Austria. While their world-class service and prime locations are undoubtedly their selling points, what truly sets Valamar apart is its strong commitment to sustainability and eco-friendly practises.
Innovative Waste Management Solutions: Harp CX10 and CX20
The CX10 and CX20 are on-site, aerobic food waste processors designed to convert organic waste into nutrient-rich fertiliser. These fully automated systems require little to no manual intervention, making them perfect for medium to large-scale hospitality operations. Equipped with advanced sensors and controls, they maintain optimal temperature and pH levels for efficient digestion and their safety mechanisms ensure safe operation at all times.

Harp CX10
With the ability to process up to 10,000 liters of organic waste per week, the CX10 is perfect for medium-sized resort and restaurants. It can handle 1,428 liters of waste per day, resulting in an estimated Co2 savings of 9.3 tonnes anually
Harp CX20
The larger CX20 unit is capable of processing up to 20,000 litres per week, making it suitable for large resorts or hotel chains. It processes 2,857 litres of waste per day, saving an impressive 25.4 tonnes of CO2 each year.

Both systems come with a built-in bin lifter, making it easier to dispose of waste and further reducing the need for manual handling.

Tangible Results: Reducing Waste, Lowering Costs, and Enhancing Sustainability
The impact of installing the Harp CX food waste processors at Valamar Group’s resorts has been substantial. By processing food waste on-site, the Group has significantly reduced the amount of waste needing disposal, leading to lower waste collection fees and less reliance on landfills. This not only contributes to lower operational costs but also reduces the environmental impact associated with food waste disposal.
In addition to reducing food waste and cutting disposal costs, the machines help reduce the carbon footprint of Valamar’s operations. By converting food scraps into compost, the CX machines create a closed-loop system that eliminates the need for chemical fertilizers, which can harm the environment. The compost generated is used in the resorts’ gardens and landscaping, enhancing the beauty of the properties while promoting sustainable practices.
But the benefits don’t end there. The reduction in food waste has also resulted in improved kitchen cleanliness and hygiene, as well as reduced odors and the risk of pests. This creates a cleaner, more pleasant environment for both staff and guests, reinforcing Valamar’s commitment to maintaining high standards across all operations.
